Writer Ellis Anderson has twenty-five years experience in creating and implementing community-building concepts.  Major projects include event planning, video production, community outreach and awareness campaigns, and publication of ground-breaking blogs and digital magazines, like The Shoofly Magazine and French Quarter Journal.

​Her book about a community faced with unimaginable challenges - Under Surge, Under Siege, the Odyssey of Bay St. Louis and Katrina - was published by University Press of Mississippi and won the 2010 Eudora Welty Book Prize and the Mississippi Library Association Non-Fiction Author’s Award.
